Gifts for Mom & Dad…
January 6th, 2007
This year, I hand-crafted some Christmas gifts for my parents. The first was an altered canvas for my mom with a polymer clay angel & a banner stamped with the word “faith”. This was inspired by the work of Barbara McGuire (a wonderful polymer clay artist & designer). The wings were made from rubber stamps she designed that can be found here.
The second gift was a hand-sculpted griffin for my dad’s collection. For those that don’t know, a griffin is a mythological creature with the head & wings of an eagle & the body of a lion. I sculpted it from black polymer clay, then dusted it with perfect pearls to give it a golden sheen. After I was done, I stepped back, looked at him, and decidedly thought he looked like a chicken. *LOL* But he was a best effort…maybe I’ll be able to make dad a more regal-looking one in the future!
