China Trip: Day 6 – New Century Grand Hotel Hangzhou

China, Travel Adventures

Wow. The Century Grand Hotel was by far the best hotel yet. When we arrived, we walked in the front door & had another one of those “how the heck can we be staying in such a nice place and have paid only $800 for this trip” moments. *LOL*

There was what appeared to be a beautiful Dale Chihuly in the entryway. It looked stunning from both sides. These hotel pics are a bit dark since it was at night…but hopefully you’ll get the idea.

I love how the curves of the ceiling repeat in the floor… (click on more)

Some images up close…

I loved the pattern behind the front desk. It was subtly lit & very cool.

The rest of the lobby had the same clean lines…

Here’s an image of the back desk (wasn’t manned at the time…but I love the outline of the lamps against the background).

Here are the tiles up close…

And our room…

And what’s this?!

Yup – a window from the room into the bathroom. What in the world could it be for? Not sure, unless you’re an exhibitionist. *LOL* But luckily – the bathroom came installed with an electric screen that you could lower for privacy.

Before going to bed, we took a stroll around the block with our friends Mimi & Sean, and then had one more thing to do. After an exhausting day on our feet…we were ready to experience a traditional Chinese reflexology massage. :)

This is sheer luxury. You really got a good deal for $800. The glass sculpture (?) looks like fire. What a beautiful center piece! Can you make one of those with polymer clay????

Interesting idea… maybe on a small scale. I should try one! heehee Too bad that polymer is so heavy. :)
