Polymer Clay, Stamping

My little niece’s birthday is today & she is turning six I believe…wow – how time flies! This is the card I made for her. The acrylic flower gems were only a $1 at JoAnns. The pattern paper is DCWV, and I used a Sizzix diecut for the butterfly. Letters & embossed happy birthday background were made with my Cuttlebug.

She is currently in a phase where she loves all things princess and is particularly fond of Belle, so I made her these jewelry pieces from polymer clay. I was actually quite the Disney fan myself in High School. All these years, I have kept an old Beauty & the Beast calendar from 1993. Ha! I knew it would be put to good use!

I scanned in the photos & miniaturized them on glossy paper using my inkjet printer. Then I painted Fimo Decorator Gel on top of the pics & baked them for 20 minutes. This is wonderful liquid polymer clay that turns completely clear when baked. When I took the pics out of the oven, I threw them in a bowl of water & then peeled the paper away with the image perfectly transferred onto the thin film of clay. This was then placed onto some white clay backed with a textured layer of pink. I cut out individual tiles, put holes through them, and beveled the edges. They went back into the oven for another 20 minutes & voila they were done! I used clear elastic cord to string them. The flower pendant was made using some flower cookie cutters to create a frame with a pic of Belle inside.
