Diane Foster just retired her presidency of our local polymer clay guild. Part of the tradition of the outgoing president is to make a small gift for the officers. Diane spent years making miniatures…and believe it or not, she does it without a magnifying glass! I was amazed when she handed me this darling bouquet of sweet pink roses as her parting gift. What a pleasant surprise! They are so delicately formed, and to give you an idea of just how tiny they are, I pictured them here with a coin. All I could find tonight was a Chinese Yuan. *LOL* It is about the size of a quarter.

Amazing, eh? I never cease to be amazed by the talent of our local PC Guild. I’m looking forward to getting started with our meetings again in August.

One of my co-workers is moving to Atlanta. Tomorrow is her last day in the office and I wanted to make her a special card. Here’s the design I came up with tonight.

I thought it might be fun to cut out stamped letters to personalize the card at the bottom…I think I might have to try it on some different cards. What do ya think?

Car image (Stampendous); Sentiment (Papertrey Ink); Alphabet (Hero Arts Basic Alphabet - my current fav); Copic & Prismacolor Markers (for sky, grass, car, etc.); 1/16″ eyelet, Circle punches (EK success), Flower ribbon (Michaels).
Hope she likes it & TFL!

Working on some clay projects for a manufacturer, so no projects to share today. However, I thought I’d share another “quotable” with you. Today’s quote is from Robert Frost…

I love this one & like to keep a copy of it at work. Sometimes it’s easy to want to avoid difficult situations & find some way around them. As if they would magically disappear over time (which of course, never happens!). It could be anything from avoiding that growing mound of dirty laundry to holding off from having a much needed conversation with an employee at work. Frost’s quote always reminds me that the best path is to take the issues head on. It is usually not nearly as big of a deal as we think it will be - and makes life far less stressful in the end! So what are you avoiding today?

Here’s a different take on HA’s happy thoughts stamp set. You don’t have to color the flowers in! Why not just stamp in a basic color & add some clear gemstones on top?
(Notecards, acetate tag, stamps, & gemstones are all Hero Arts.)

Here’s a sneak peak of the Hero Arts card-of-the-week featuring a darling lil’ set called Sparkle Clear Happy Thoughts.
The flower border is just perfect for coloring in with your favorite markers! I’m a big fan of the color combo purple & green, which I used here. The stamp set actually comes with cute lil’ purple & green sparkle gems as well!
Click on the image to the left to go to the full card with instructions & supply list. You can buy a matching card kit here as well!

Here’s a lil’ card using CC Designs’ monkey image with a small heart punch. He just looks like he has lots of love to give.
The card shape was made with a Nestabilities circle die & the alphabet is Hero Arts. I used some spica glitter pens on the hearts to add sparkle. TFL!

Here’s one more card I made last weekend that I thought I’d share. The floral stamp is Penny Black (colored with Copics) & the sentiment is Papertrey Ink. I realized a couple of days after making it that the color scheme & layout is very similar to a card I saw on Emily Giovanni’s blog months ago. I think it must have stuck in the back of my mind! *LOL* So here is a link to Emily’s original card which was beautifully done in watercolors.

I absolutely love this book & movie, and I only recently found out they made the story into a 2-person play. All I can say is wow. I went to the production tonight in a small theatre in Addison. The environment was so intimate (with only 70 people) & the play was so moving that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house at the end! I’ve been hearing one of Morrie’s favorite quotes in my head all night, “We must love one another or die.”
The actors (Gary Taggart & Joe Nemmers, pictured below) were phenomenal. I’ll definitely be back to the Watertower Theatre for more productions in the future!

For those of you that may not be familiar, Tuesdays with Morrie is a memoir chronicling best-selling author Mitch Albom’s relationship with his favorite college sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz. It was compiled from meetings with Morrie on Tuesdays during his fight with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). Below is a synopsis from the theater’s webpage:
“When Mitch’s former Brandeis sociology professor and mentor is diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the career-obsessed sportswriter plans a brief visit to re-connect and say goodbye. As their friendship rekindles and the visits become a weekly ritual, both teacher and student discover a tender and touching connection to each other. A powerful, deeply emotional story, Tuesdays with Morrie examines the true meaning of life and love.”
What a great show. It will be playing for one more night…so if any of you are in the DFW area - I highly recommend attending tomorrow!

I love the lil’ Changito monkeys from Stampendous’ line. I colored this guy in last weekend and discovered that you can dye your ribbon to match your card with Copic markers. The bow here was white at first which blended in too much with the background, but I just quickly colored it in with a lavender Copic to tint it to match.

Have I mentioned how much I love Shabby Princess? I took one of their wonderful free digital kits & revamped my blog, gallery, resume, & main webpage with the same color scheme (it was long overdue for a change!). The kit is called Express Yourself and is designed by Ronna Penner. You can download a copy for yourself here.
