A while back, my friend Maiken knitted me a wonderful sweater & scarf. To return the favor, I made a slew of handcrafted items for her. I’ve decided to share only one of them here on the blog in case she reads this post before the package arrives in Denmark!
This stationary set is similar to the ones posted yesterday, but I added a bit of a twist with the patterned paper. Maiken likes dark colors, so I opted for black & white along with a splash of Christine Cole striped paper along the bottom of each card. It’s simple, but looks pretty cool in person. Hope she likes it!

I so enjoyed making the monogrammed stationary set & matching sachets for my co-worker a couple of weeks ago that I decided to make more in different colors for birthday gifts for a couple of other friends and add matching birthday cards.

A while back, I decorated the cover of some colored journals with embossed pewter. I used designs from brass stencils (the same kind you can use on paper) along with some metal embossing stylus tools. Sheets of embossable aluminum or pewter are available at most of your local craft stores and are sold in tubes. I think these make great gifts for the holidays & love the way the below two came out, so I thought I’d share them with you.

Nancy Lotzer, one of the talented members of our local polymer clay guild, did a great demo at this month’s meeting on how to make these fabulous ripple bowls. She is so creative! The bowls have a radial Skinner blend that looks so beautiful in the finished product.
I used Premo! clay in the one pictured here (white, red, blue, & green pearl). I love all the rainbow colors you get when you blend them together. Can’t share any more secrets since this is Nancy’s technique, but I love how the end result almost looks like a flower…

I recently saw a great idea on Nichole Heady’s blog for creating homemade sachets with Nestabilities dies. I had some loose lavender on hand & decided to make a set of them for a co-worker’s birthday along with a matching monogrammed stationary set. The sachets were very simple to make - just follow Nichole’s tutorial here.
My one suggestion missing from her instructions is that after you cut the material, make sure that you use a bit of Fray Check on all the edges (available at your local craft or fabric store). Otherwise, you’ll get dozens of tiny loose threads that will come off of your scallops. Take it from someone who learned the hard way. *LOL*

Just a month away. Aren’t Halloween cards a blast to make? The kraft border panel on this one was made with my threading water punch & the lil’ spider was stamped & then flocked in black for added dimension.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any polymer work. I’ve been working on projects for Polyform, but unfortunately, I can’t share any of those here! I decided to post a pendant/bracelet set I made a while back. I have sets of these in different colors, but this one is in a happy shade of orange.
The pendant has a frame of sterling silver around it. I found it at a local silver store - though you can make your own by flattening silver wire & soldering it in the desired shape. For the clay, I’ve used simple flower, leaf, and striped canes on basic black.
The bracelet uses sterling spacer beads & is textured with swirls on the inside:

My mom came to visit me last weekend, and we had a great time shopping during the tax free holiday & watching all things Olympics (the gymnastics competitions never cease to amaze me!)
One night I stamped off some images, brought out the Copic markers & she went to town on a page of Cakeabellas. This was her first venture in the stamping/cardmaking world - so needless to say, I enjoyed exposing her to my favorite pastime! She picked out all of the different elements to make a card, and we put the below one together for my sister-in-law’s birthday. Didn’t she do a great job?!?!
Here’s a close-up of her coloring. Love the shading on the apron & the fiery red hair. This gal’s got spunk!
