A while back, I decorated the cover of some colored journals with embossed pewter. I used designs from brass stencils (the same kind you can use on paper) along with some metal embossing stylus tools. Sheets of embossable aluminum or pewter are available at most of your local craft stores and are sold in tubes. I think these make great gifts for the holidays & love the way the below two came out, so I thought I’d share them with you.

Here are pics of some altered letters I just completed for display at the Winter 2007 CHA show. They spell the word “DREAM” and will be highlighted in the designer showcase bohemian tween room in the lobby.
All letters were made with a heavy aluminum foil which was embossed using brass templates, free-form swirl designs, and ten seconds studio embossing wheels. Once complete, the metal was dyed with Pinata alcohol inks by Jacquard in Sapphire blue, Baja Blue, & Lime Green to give it a fun bohemian look. All raised areas were sanded to highlight the embossed design & then the metal was adhered to white wooden letters using strong double-sided tape. Click on images for a larger picture.
