Basically, you create the wackiest looking contraption you can come up with that can perch on your head.

This was my contribution:

He wasn’t a winner – but it was still fun to join in the goofy display.
The base purple “hat” is actually an easter basket turned upside down with the handle cut off. I added a plush bunny basket on top of that and hid a green floral block inside to hold the butterflies. The wire was painted white with gesso & then die-cut butterflies (Sizzix) were attached. The floral foam was covered with purple grass and a few plastic easter eggs to top it off. I added some gingham ribbon on the inside so that it could be tied under your chin. Yeah, I know, ridiculous… but sometimes we need to let our inner kid out.

Happy Easter!

I had every intention of posting some new card designs this week but haven’t had a chance to photograph them yet as I’ve been prepping for CHA. They will be coming soon.

For those of you that are not familiar with CHA, it is short for Craft & Hobby Association. The winter trade show is the main event of the year & is currently held out in Anaheim,California. Imagine walking into a convention center & seeing product booths from every manufacturer in the arts & crafts industry…around 3,000 of them! It can be overwhelming at first, but is always a blast, and it’s great to run into familiar faces of designers I’ve met through the years. There’s always a chance to make new friends in some of the fantastic classes they offer as well (can I tell you how excited I am about taking Kelly Rae Roberts creative collage class?!?!!!).

CHA is also a great chance to get a pulse on the year’s upcoming trends, see new product releases, etc. I’ll be taking a point & shoot camera with me, so I’ll try to take a few shots of my fav items to share with you. Check back for the full report next week.

Hugs,
