Merry Christmas to one & all!

It’s been quite a year, and as I look back through all that has happened…I have so much to be thankful for.

I am truly blessed with a group of wonderful friends & family and want to thank all of you for your support through all of the changes this year.  You make such a difference!  Even those of you that live hundreds & in some cases thousands of miles away, I treasure the contribution you bring to my life, and you are never far from my thoughts.

I wish you a holiday season filled with love, joy & laughter, and I look forward to sharing new 2008 adventures with all of you…whatever they may be!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Everywhere you go!

I just love this time of year. :)

I got in the mood last night by making a dozen of these Christmas ornaments from polymer clay to give to co-workers with their altered journals. I think I’m going to make more of these next week with my niece & nephew since they are simple enough for kids.

Quick Instructions: Condition a package of caramel-colored clay. Roll out on the largest setting on your pasta machine & cut the gingerbread man shape out with a Wilton cookie cutter (available at JoAnns for $1). Take a scrap of white polymer clay & roll out into a skinny snake. Twist two pieces together to create the rope for the hands & feet. Roll two small balls for the eyes & a small curl for the mouth. Make two small coils from red glitter clay for the buttons, poke a hole in the top of the head (I used the end of a ball point pen without the ink cartridge) & bake for 20 minutes. Add some ribbon & you are done!

Netflix…an addiction

Hello my name is Laura…and I’m a Netflix addict. *LOL*

I joined about a month ago to watch movies I wouldn’t necessarily go out & buy.  And isn’t it just the best to be able to watch TV shows without commercials & waiting a week between episodes?   Some of my recommendations so far…

  • The Office, Season 3 - I couldn’t stop laughing. :)
  • Firefly – great short-lived sci-fi western TV show.  It’s quirky but lots of fun.
  • Peaceful Warrior – wonderful film about Zen thinking
  • The Prestige – Hugh Jackman, need I say more?
  • Black Book – EXCELLENT film about a Jew infiltrating the SS headquarters in WWII
  • The Lives of Others – Amazing foreign film about East Germany in the 80s before the wall came down
  • The Station Agent – unusual independent film about a train-loving dwarf who inherits a station depot in a small town in the northeast.
  • Little Children – a very disturbing but well-made film starring Kate Winslet

Star Wars

Tara – I promised you Star Wars pics…so here they are! These were taken at the recent Ft. Worth science museum exhibit. It’s amazing to see some of the stuff up close – especially the models of the ships that look larger than life on the screen and can be rather small up close. According to one of the videos, the model-makers bought a lot of the supplies to make the ships in a medical supply warehouse outside of London. Weird, eh? Enjoy the pics…
